Eggs & Stone Soup

Mrs. Tattrie continued working with Ms. Knecht's class today, decorating and colouring Ukranian Easter eggs. The creativity is amazing!

I smelled something from the primary area and it led me to Mrs. Klan's class where I found a pot of Stone Soup. If your child is in her class make sure you ask about the various ingredients Mrs. Klan used to make this special soup.

It has been a great week. There are so many wonderful things that happen at GES with our students and staff. I feel blessed to be part of this great learning community.

I hope that everyone enjoys the weekend. Take time to spend time with your child(ren)--read with them, play games with them, eat with them and share your time with them.

All the best.

G'Day

At today's Primary Assembly Mrs. Sali's class sang an Australian Song, "G'Day," and they introduced an Australian Dance which included the actions of a kangaroo and an emu.

Ask your child to teach the dance to you, if you wish.

G'day,

Great Day Overall

Our B Team (Grade 6 & 7 boys) defeated WSE to advance to the A Pool and won one and lost one in their playoff round. Our other two teams fell to defeat in their playoff rounds.

It was a great day and all of the students who participated seemed to have had a lot of fun. I was pleased with the students' behaviour--they represented their families and school really well today.

Thanks again to our parent volunteers (The Withingtons & Jason Alcock) and our score keepers.

Good luck to the girls in their tournament at Chatelech tomorrow.

Have a good night.

Boys' Basketball Tournament

I have been busy working with our boys in today's SD 46 District Basketball Tournament. We have three teams entered and thankfully I have some parent volunteers assisting me-- Thank you!!!!

We are doing really well and our teams are having some successes and some disappointments, but overall it has been great so far.

Thank you to the 7 GES girls who have been helping score keep.

Until later.

Ukranian Eggs & Aboriginal Education

Mrs. Knecht's class had a treat today, as Mrs. Tattrie helped students make traditional Ukranian Easter eggs. The students were very creative and the eggs looked great.

This afternoon I took two of our students (Taylor & Cheyenne) to an SD 46 Aboriginal Circle Forum on Education, at the Seaside Centre, in Sechelt. Our students did some great work while there and Cheyenne did an awesome job articulating the groups comments to the rest of the audience. Bravo!!!

Tomorrow will be busy with the SD 46 Boys' Basketball Tournament.

Until next time.

Busy Tuesday

Today was another busy day. I had several customers that I had to deal with early on in the day, I taught a PE class, set up some work at Sunnycrest Mall, for Education Week, and was the referee for the girls' basketball game vs Cedar Grove-- it was a good game and the improvement was evident.

Tomorrow afternoon I will be accompanying two students to the SD 46 Aboriginal Education Advisory Circle Forum, which will be held at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt; the student session is in the afternoon from 1:30-2:30 pm. Any parents of Aboriginal ancestry are invited to attend.

Thursday the SD 46 Boys' Basketball Tournament is at Elphinstone and GES, while the Girls' Tournament is on Friday at Chatelech Secondary.

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions please feel free to give me a call at the office or send me an e-mail at mheidebrecht@sd46.bc.ca.

Enjoy your evening.

Photo Day & Fitness

It was busy with Spring Photo Day at GES today. We had a great day of weather so our pictures were taken outside.

Mrs. Sali's class is doing a fitness unit--when I stopped in the gym they were doing some stretching.

Until later.
