The band, The Wheat in the Barley, provided us with music from around the world and educated us on the various instruments that they played. The students, staff and parents in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the variety of music, which led to a lot of clapping, foot tapping and singing.
For your information the band will be performing at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse tomorrow evening.
Just a reminder that there will be a Haiti Relief Benefit at Roberts Creek Elementary School this Sunday from 2-8 pm. There will be live music, food booths, as well as an auction. If you are looking for something to do Sunday afternoon this should be a great event.
I have posted the Literacy events on our monthly calender-- Monday is D.E.A.R. Day, so students should make sure that they have a favourite book with them on Monday.
Check out the Flickr Photostream for more updated photos.
Have a great weekend.

Science World Scientist visits GES Today
Former GES student and currently a scientist working for Science World, Kate Henderson, provided some of our intermediate students with some action science today. She brought with her a bag of tricks which excited our students about science. It is so nice to have a former student return to her roots and share her passion with our students. That's so much Kate!
We are appreciative of the time she spent here and will extend another invitation to her to come back again.
Unfortunately I have to head to Sechelt for a meetig before the end of the day so I have had to cancel our Boys' 6/7 Basketball Team practice today-- we will have a makeup practice on Friday after school.
Until tomorrow.

Happy Monday!
Greetings! What a windy night we had-- power outages in Halfmoon Bay, Roberts Creek and Langdale. None-the-less it has turned out to be a great day.
I got a chance to visit some classes this morning and I have posted a few pictures from these visits. Mrs. Fitchell's students were working on making books that they will share with their buddy class. Some of Mr. Sullivan's kindergarten students can be seen working on their newest station, the "Fix it" center. Mrs. Sali's students were taking turns trying to get in as many multiplication doubles in before Woody got to the bottom of his pole. If your child is in her class ask them to explain it to you. You can also help them work on their multiplication skills!
I trust that everyone had a nice weekend. It seems like it will be a great week.
Until later.
Mr. H
