GES is a great school with a vibrant staff, active parents and engaged students. I will use this blog to share some of the exciting things that happen at GES. Please provide feedback, as we really appreciate it.

Grade 6/7 Boys' Volleyball vs Staff
Our staff challenged the Boys' Volleyball Team to a match today at lunch. It was a well played game, but the staff was victorious (44-24). Many students watched the game and cheered with enthusiasm.
Thanks to the Mr. D & his team, as well as the staff, for providing us with great entertainment.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Until next week.

Primary Assembly
We had a Primary Performance Assembly in the gym this morning, after recess. Mrs. Klan played piano while we sang O'Canada, then the Kindergarten class did a number, followed by Mrs. Hoechstetter's class. The entire primary group then sang several songs including one of my favourites,"Lester the Lobster from PEI."
It was nice to see some parents and grandparents in attendance today.
Until later.

Girls Volleyball vs Cedar Grove
The Girls' Volleyball Team played several games against visiting Cedar Grove Elementary. Both teams won games. They all seemed to have fun!
There is a rumour that our staff will be playing the GES Boys' Volleyball Team tomorrow (recess or lunch). It should be a humbling experience.
Have a great night everyone.
Until tomorrow.

Beautiful Day on the Sunshine Coast
It is another banner day on the Sunshine Coast-- we are taking advantage of the great weather. The students really enjoy the good weather and play really hard when it's so nice outside.
I have a PE class to take care of now but I will get back to the blog later.

Educational Team Leader Meeting
I was out of the office today and attended our monthly Educational Team Leader Meeting at the School Board Office. As much as I would rather be at our school it is good to get together with other principals and management.
Thanks to Mr. Sullivan for filling in for me. I hope that everyone had a great day.
I look forward to being back at school tomorrow.
Until then,
Mr. H

Iiang and the Magic Paint Brush
I stopped by the library this afternoon and Mrs. Hourigan was reading Iiang and the Magic Paint Brush to Mrs. Klan's Grade 2 Class. The students really enjoyed the story and were excited about giving their input about what was going to happen next.
Reading together is a great way to spend quality time with your children. If you haven't read with your child lately give it a try-- I'm sure that you will enjoy it.
Have a great night.

Blogging 101
Mr Bob. Cotter, SD 46 Manager of Data and Technology, was a guest in Ms. Thomson's class this morning. Mr. Cotter provided a Blogging 101 course to get some of our students organized for some Division 1 & 2 blogging.
After students accessed G-mail accounts they were well on their way. In no time students had their basic blogs set up. The students will utilize their blogs internally at first and later may be linked to the GES web page.
We hope that the skills that they learn will help them with their use of technology, while enhancing their language arts skills. It is an exciting project that we will undertake this year.
I will keep you posted on the Division 1 & Division 2 Blogs.
Until later.
Mr. H
