GES Track Team Performs Well

The GES track Team competed at the SD 46 District Track Meet and came home with 19 first place ribbons-- a fantastic feat for nine athletes. Thanks to Mr. Sullivan and the parents for working with our team today, along with Mrs. Hourigan who coached the long jumpers this year.

We were a bit disappointed with the number of our students that opted not to participate in the meet, for various reasons, but we were really pleased with the effort and attitude-- it was great!

Bravo to all our athletes on a successful meet. More photos can be seen by going to the Flickr Photo Stream.

Fine Arts at GES

While our track team is participating at the SD 46 Track Meet, there have been a lot of exciting Fine Arts things going on here at school.

Our Administrative Assistant, Ms. Vicki Beeman, shared her gift of music with Mrs. Kopek's class and taught them a song. There was more Fine Arts at the Primary Assembly, with Mrs. Kopek's class presenting a story about a hugging bear, while the pirate theme came to us via Mrs. Klan's class. The entire group also sang a few songs. It has been a good day so far.

Shortly, I will be heading up to the ESS track to see how our athletes are performing.

Until later.

Graphing

Students were working on graphing in both Mrs. Kopek's and Mrs. Murray's Math classes today. Mrs. Murray's students were making squares that will be used to make graphs and to find coordinates.

It is great to see our students engaged in their learning!

Museum School

Mrs. Sali's class spent last week at the Gibsons Museum-- their Museum School Bulletin Board presentation is excellent and I would encourage parents to have a look at it.

Until later.

Gibsons Museum becomes our classroom

Mrs. Sali had her class at the Gibsons Museum this past week. The museum staff and volunteers worked with our students to provide an excellent week of learning.

The students had a great week. Thanks to the parents that assisted walking with the class to and from the museum daily.

Have an awesome weekend everyone.

Grade 7 students working on their stars

The grade 7 students got their hands messy this afternoon, while working on their stars. These stars will be used in the Grade Seven Leaving Ceremony.

Thanks to parent volunteer, Shirley Waite, for helping organize this event.

I have posted other photos on the Flickr Photostream to the left.

Enjoy.

A Mid-Summer Night's Dream

Ms. Duncan's Division 1 class is preparing for their annual Shakespeare play-- this year it will again be, A Mid-Summer Night's Dream. As you can see by the photos the students do a variety of tasks-- the set crew was busy working on parts of the set, while the actors were practicing at the other end of the gym. I look forward to their production. I will post when they will be performing.

Enjoy the great weather!

Until tomorrow.
