Sock Hop & Frogs

When I was visiting the primary classes this morning some grade 6 students were informing Mrs. Sali's grade 4 girls about the upcoming sock hop. This sock hop is a fund raiser for the library.

When I visited Ms. Kraneburg's class I saw some of the excellent work that the students were doing. The picture above is an informative piece of writing about frogs-- great picture Harris!

We will be having our Volunteer Appreciation Tea over lunch hour. For those unable to attend, I just want to pass on my thanks for all the great things our parent and other volunteers do to make GES a better place for learning. The contribution that you make is truly amazing! Thank you so much!

Balloon Badminton

Mrs. Kopek had her class working on badminton skills but using balloons. My timing was great as I had to tie off several balloons. I had a chance to play some balloon badminton with Alistar-- it was good fun.

It sure is nice to see some sunshine. We are hoping for some continued good weather the rest of the week, since we will be having our annual GES Sports Day this Friday, June 4th, rain or shine.

Just a reminder that we will be having a volunteer tea for parents and others who have helped out around GES-- this is happening tomorrow, Wednesday, June 2nd fom 12:10-12:50, in the library.

I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Until tomorrow.

ESS Band Plays

Mr. Tom Kellough and the ESS Stage Band played a concert for GES this afternoon. About 3/4 of the band are former GES students-- what a tribute to our music program.

We are hoping for a change in the weather since we have our Sports Day scheduled for this Friday.
I will keep you posted.

A Mid-Summer Night's Dream Rehearsal

Ms. Duncan's class continues to rehearse A Mid-Summer Night's Dream. The actors are very confident and it seems like it is coming together really well.

Keep up the good work!

Aboriginal Education Stations

Mrs. Pugh organized four stations for Aboriginal Education today-- they were: pemmican pounding, bannock recipes, sash making and beading. The students were really engaged and excited about the activity. Thank you for sharing your gifts with our students Mrs. Pugh!

I would encourage parents to talk to your child(ren) about some of the Aboriginal Education activities that they have been doing.

Thought & Activity

Mr. Sullivan was deep in thought today ........... it has been busy around here so taking time for thought is always a good thing!

I had Mrs. Hoechstetter's class for a PE block today and we played some freeze tag as well as some sideline soccer-- it was good fun, with all students staying active throughout the period.

It is busy for our staff after school today-- we are presenting the results of our Intermediate and Primary Team Learning Community Team projects at the Augusta Grill this afternoon.

Assessment & Garage Sale

There was calm in the primary area as our district team was conducting a kindergarten assessment. The information gathered will be valuable in seeing how our kindergarten students are doing.

There was excitement in the air, in the rest of the school, in anticipation of the Annual Division 2 Garage Sale today. The sale went very well, but the students needed more time to shop so we will resume the sale at lunch time. The fund raising activity is part of the annual trip to Whistler that Mr. Detwiller's class has done for a number of years.

Until later.
